A morning skincare routine is your skin's first line of defence against the day ahead — UV exposure, pollution, oxidative stress and environmental aggressors that cause premature ageing, pigmentation and dullness. Get it right and your corrective treatments will perform significantly better.
Step 1 — Cleanse
Your morning cleanse removes overnight sebum build-up and any residue from evening products. Choose based on your skin type: SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser or ZO Skin Health Hydrating Cleanser for dry and sensitive skin; ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser or SkinCeuticals Simply Clean for normal to combination; Bioderma Sebium Foaming Gel or ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser for oily and acne-prone.
Step 2 — Tone (Optional)
Removes residual impurities, restores pH and preps skin to absorb serums more efficiently. ZO Skin Health Calming Toner for sensitive skin, Bioderma Sebium Lotion or ZO Skin Health Oil Control Pads for oily skin, SkinCeuticals Equalizing Toner for normal skin.
Step 3 — Vitamin C Serum
The most important active step in your morning routine. Apply to dry skin before moisturiser and SPF. SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic for normal/dry skin, Silymarin CF for oily/blemish-prone, Phloretin CF for pigmentation, Serum 10 for sensitive beginners.
Step 4 — Targeted Treatment
For specific concerns: SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense for pigmentation, SkinCeuticals Redness Neutralizer for rosacea, ZO Skin Health Firming Serum for anti-ageing, ZO Skin Health Instant Pore Refiner for pores.
Step 5 — Moisturise
SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore or ZO Skin Health Renewal Creme for dry/mature skin; SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture or Metacell Renewal B3 for normal/combination; Bioderma Sebium Sensitive for oily; SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier for dehydrated skin (before moisturiser).
Step 6 — SPF (Non-Negotiable)
Always the final step. SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF 50 for pigmentation, Oil Shield SPF 50 for oily skin, Ultra Facial Defense SPF 50+ for dry/ageing, ZO Skin Health Smart Tone SPF 50 for all skin types.
How Long Should a Morning Routine Take?
3 to 5 minutes. Cleanser, Vitamin C, moisturiser and SPF is a perfectly effective four-step routine. Consistency always beats complexity.
